Why soy wax instead of paraffin?
Soy wax burns cleaner. No soot on your walls. No petroleum byproducts in the air. Michael Angelo Candles uses high quality soy wax that is hypoallergenic and pet friendly. If you have allergies, asthma, or a dog who sleeps in the same room as your candle, soy is the safer choice. It also burns slower than paraffin, so your candle lasts longer.
Are these candles safe around pets?
Yes. The soy wax is natural and clean burning. The fragrances are phthalate free and formulated to be pet friendly. No harsh synthetic fillers. You can burn one in the living room without worrying about what your dog or cat is breathing in. That said, keep the flame itself out of tail range. The wax is safe. The fire is still fire.

What is a wood wick and why does it crackle?
A wood wick is a thin strip of natural wood instead of a cotton string. When it burns, it produces a soft crackling sound similar to a fireplace. It also creates a wider, flatter flame that throws scent more efficiently across a room. Wood wicks burn a little differently than cotton wicks. Trim them to about an eighth of an inch before each burn and let the first burn pool all the way to the edge of the jar.
How long does each candle burn?
A 12 oz soy candle with a wood wick burns 60 to 80 hours when burned properly. The key is the first burn. Let the wax pool all the way to the edges of the jar before you blow it out. That sets the burn memory and prevents tunneling. After that, keep the wick trimmed and do not burn the candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
