This hand-turned Black Walnut wooden bowl is definitely a "one of a kind". It is not the normal hand turned wooden bowl. It was formed from the stump of a long fallen black walnut tree here in Mississippi, the stump set in the ground many years after the tree had been cut. Nature is responsible for the unique shape of this live edge, the higher peaks being where the roots extended from the stump into the ground. Nature is also responsible for the outstanding beauty of the almost "curly" grain patterns only found in the stump.
Black Walnut wood is prized for its strength and beauty, and this piece showcases those qualities in full. The bowl’s proportions allow it to function both as a centerpiece and as a sculptural object, bringing warmth and authenticity into any interior space.
Measuring approximately 9 inches in diameter and 4.5 inches tall, the form is substantial yet balanced, with a presence that draws attention without overwhelming its surroundings.
